About G's Gentle Pet Therapy
Hi, I'm Gracie Schwandtner, owner and operator of G's Gentle Pet Therapy. I am a certified small animal massage practitioner. I went to Marshall, Virginia to receive hands-on training and certification through the Canis Bodyworks program. I chose this program because it meets the qualifications to take the exam to become Nationally Board Certified in Canine Massage. I completed over 200 hours of schooling to become certified. Before this, I was a pet groomer for 2 years before deciding it wasn't for me. I didn't like having to work on pets that didn't like and/or hated grooming. I always want pets to feel comfortable and relaxed which typically isn't the case for the whole grooming process. I then decided to do small animal massage therapy because it makes me happy to do something that animals will enjoy and benefit from.
I am currently certified in:
Animal Trust & Relationship-Building
Canine First Aid Concepts & Pathology
Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy
I am finishing up my certifications in sports massage and fitness, as well as palliative/hospice care and oncology. I will continue my education in this field and in the future, I will offer animal reiki, kinesiology taping, laser therapy, and more!

A zoom consultation gives you a chance to meet us and tell us about your pet. We can discuss any questions you may have and talk about how massage can benefit your pet. We will discuss meeting for a meet and greet session and how that session will go. We will also discuss how a regular pet massage therapy session goes and how often you plan on doing sessions. A zoom consultation lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.
The meet and greet session is for first time clients. It gives us and your pet a chance to get acquainted without spending the whole massage session getting comfortable. It allows you to review the consent form. We will discuss the pet's medical history and issues, along with any previous treatments. During this session, we will do a gait analysis and discuss future goals for your pet. If time allows and the pet is ready and gives consent, we will do a mini massage to start to get the pet used to what future sessions will be like. If the pet has used up all the time in the session and we feel the pet needs more time to get comfortable with us, we will suggest a trust building session for next time. Then we will see how it goes and proceed from there. Meet and greet sessions are approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Trust building sessions are for pets who need more time getting comfortable with touch in order to prepare for massage sessions. This type of session may or may not include a mini massage depending on if your pet is ready or not and how much time is left in the session. These sessions are approximately 30 minutes.
Dog Massage Therapy Session
Massage sessions are not a set amount of time. The massage is over when your dog says it's over or the session has reached one hour. Massage sessions are typically 40 minutes to an hour. If the session happens to last less than 30 minutes, a $15 discount will be applied. We will NOT put a 30 minute time limit on the session just to get the discount. This discount only applies if a session is scheduled, and the dog decides the massage is over in less than 30 minutes of us arriving.
Cat Massage Therapy Session
Massage sessions are not a set amount of time. The massage is over when your cat says it's over or the session has reached 45 minutes. Cat massage sessions are typically 20 to 40 minutes. Cat massage sessions are shorter due to cats having a lower tolerance for touch. They typically do not like to be touched for more than 40 minutes. If the session happens to last less than 20 minutes, a $10 discount will be applied. We will NOT put a 20 minute time limit on the session just to get the discount. This discount only applies if a session is scheduled, and the cat decides the massage is over in less than 20 minutes of us arriving.
